My photography encompasses three very unique styles: SX 70's, Image Transfers and Emulsion Lifts. Once I am back in the studio my 35mm transparences are turned into Polaroid Images. Each image is further enhanced by adding colored pencils or pastels, resulting in an unique version of the original photograph.

SX 70:
A SX 70 image is produced using an instant film. During the development phase of the film, I use wooden tools to move, mold and scratch the photograph, transforming it into a miniature impressionistic image.

Image Transfer:
To create an image transfer, a Polaroid negative is prematurely peeled from the film backing and transferred to a non-photographic surface, such as watercolor paper or handmade paper, where it finishes the developing process.

Emulsion Lift:
Emulsions Lift refers to the process of lifting a thin layer of emulsion from a developed photograph by submerging it in boiling water. This emulsion is then placed onto watercolor paper and sculpted, torn and/or stretched to create ethereal photographs.

All work is by hand and is labor intensive. Once I have my master print, it is then taken into the studio where Archival Image prints are created on watercolor paper. The prints are produced in small editions.
